I'm really glad to share my passion for pilates with you.

Discover a particularly creative Pilates workout
in the heart of Zurich!

Both individual and group classes are offered in our well-equipped "ProPilates" Pilates studio. The studio's central location in Seefeld, closed to Stadelhofen station, is ideal for enjoying an hour's Pilates training during your break or after work, and for investing time in your health and well-being.

The inventor of the Pilates method, Joseph Pilates, developed a considerable number of intelligent and interesting exercises on the mat and on equipment such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Hump Barrel. The different types of training and countless exercise options in the Pilates method promote flexibility and endurance, give the opportunity to strengthen each muscle group precisely and can help to solve a number of health problems. A complete Pilates workout allows us to get to know and feel our bodies better. Personally, I'm fascinated by the way Joseph Pilates draws a parallel between the physical and psychological aspects. This link is a determining and indispensable element in the way I teach.

As a Pilates coach, I design a personalised training programme for each client, tailored to individual needs, to relieve muscle tension and strengthen the body and mind. Regular Pilates training improves mobility, strength, coordination, balance and develops healthy muscle tissue throughout the body.

The classes I offer include classical and modified Pilates, as well as "Pilates for Musicians". Through my first job as a violinist, I know very well the problems of tension in musicians: bad posture, chronic muscular tension, physical asymmetries. Thanks to my Pilates training, I've been able to strengthen considerably my deep muscles and correct my own posture, which has had a huge impact on the quality of my playing and the strength of my body. Regular Pilates practice has enabled me to find a stable physical and mental condition, which is essential for all musicians. That's why I designed "Pilates for Musicians" so that I could help musicians with individual programmes.

After training as a Pilates instructor with FitsPro, where I obtained certification for Pilates training on mats and on equipment such as the Reformer, Chair, Cadillac and Hump Barrel, I decided to take specific prenatal and postnatal training with Bernadette de Gasquet. This enabled me to broaden my knowledge of the physical changes that pregnancy brings. As a mother of two, this Pilates training has helped me to stay in shape during and after my pregnancy.
I'd be delighted to invite you to my "Pilates for Pregnant Women" prenatal group workout and my postnatal group class. Of course, I'm also happy to work with you on a one-to-one basis.

Each training programme, whether mat, reformer or class, is tailored to the individual wishes and goals of my clients and their own needs.

As a member of the "PilatesSuisse" association and a "QualiCert" certified personal trainer, my clients can have part of their Pilates training costs reimbursed by their health insurance (depending on your health insurance and cover).

I look forward to welcoming you
to our "ProPilates" studio

Frequently asked Questions

Who can benefit from Pilates Training?

The Pilates method is suitable for any healthy individual aged 15 and above, regardless of gender, age, or fitness level. Beginners and advanced practitioners are instructed at their individual training levels in our Pilates studio in Zurich. The exercises in Pilates training are suitable for everyone and can be enjoyable, whether in a group setting, during mat classes, reformer classes, or private lessons.

Customers often engage in Pilates training for various reasons, including addressing back pain or other physical discomfort, as a strength-training method, to strengthen the core and deep muscles, improve posture and flexibility, reduce stress and tension, during pregnancy, and for postpartum recovery.

How fast I will see and feel the difference?

Results occur when training is done consistently. It is optimal to train 1-3 times per week to feel the benefits of the Pilates method. Pilates training is a holistic body workout that has been continuously developed for over 70 years since its invention by Joseph Pilates, incorporating the latest insights from exercise physiology. It combines various training methods, particularly strengthening the core, contributing to improved posture and body awareness, stretching and mobilizing muscles and joints, and enhancing coordination.

As Joseph Pilates said: "After 10 hours, you feel the difference. After 20 hours, you see the difference. After 40 hours, you have a new body."

Can I do Pilates at home by myself?

Most Pilates exercises on the mat are excellent for home workouts, provided that a good technique has been learned with the trainer. This way, one can prevent discomfort and tension.

Pilates is among the most popular training methods because significant progress can be achieved with minimal equipment. Even with a resistance band, ball, and roller, it is possible to perform a large number of exercises. To make independent training more effective, I recommend recording short videos during Pilates studio sessions.

Those who train at home during the week benefit the most from Pilates courses!

Can you do Pilates during pregnancy?

Yes! As long as the pregnancy is uncomplicated, Pilates training is even beneficial, as it helps gently strengthen the back and deep abdominal muscles. Additionally, a trained pelvic floor provides support for the baby. You always train at your own responsibility, and the workout should not cause any pain.

Pilates is a wonderful movement technique to stay in shape and prepare for childbirth during this time of significant physical changes. It is a true joy to guide pregnant women in both my Pilates group class for pregnant women and individual sessions!

How much does a Pilates session cost?

The price varies depending on the type of session, ranging from 40 CHF for a group mat class to 140 CHF for a private session. An individual trial session costs 120 CHF. Since I want to provide proper attention to each pregnant woman, there are only four spots available in the pregnancy course, which is why this course costs 50 CHF per session.

As a member of Pilates Suisse and QualiCert, you may be eligible for cost reimbursement depending on your health insurance.

Why do I offer a special Pilates for musicians?

Being a violinist myself, I understand the importance of maintaining a good physical condition to endure the many rehearsals and concert hours. That's why I combine a specially tailored series of Pilates exercises to prevent or alleviate the specific physical discomfort experienced by musicians.

I look forward to meeting you at our Pilates studio in Zurich!

Sandrine Canova Violiniste, Berner Sinfonieorchester

"Rachel is a great instructor and I am glad to have discovered her Pilates classes. She leads us through an interesting and level appropriate work out routine while making sure that we have the right postures, and remember to breathe. She pays attention to every individual, taking care to advise of variations in exercises should they need it. Her style of instruction also makes the class a lot of fun and makes me look forward to the next one"

Sandhya Ganesch Technology Manager

"Pilates Stunden bei Rachel sind wunderbar herausfordernd, sie kennt die Bedürfnisse jedes einzelnen und setzt ihr Wissen gezielt individuell ein.
Das Ganze mit viel Charme und Humor macht jede Pilates Stunde zu einem tollen Erlebnis"

Jana Karsko Geigerin, Zürcher Kammerorchester

"Rachel is a wonderful Pilates instructor who manages to motivate students to always go one step further and keep on improving!
xHer mat lessons combine exercises to strengthen the intern musculature and improve your flexibility. She also tries to make you aware of the importance of keeping a proper body posture.
xThank you Rachel for your lessons! I really appreciate the mix of rigour, intensity and good mood! Looking forward to the next one"

Mireya Sanchez Architect
